Matthew Gardner studied physics at the University of Warwick and completed an MSc in medical physics at Swansea University. Next, he joined the NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP).
Achieving registration as a clinical scientist in 2014, Matt became a phototherapy physics lead. He also specialised in diagnostic radiology and radiation safety physics applied to radiology & radiotherapy. He has worked on educational projects as a Lead Editor for the latest STP curriculum review, Subject Matter Expert for technical qualifications in healthcare science and Outreach Lead at the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).
He currently works as a clinical scientist in the radiation physics team of a large West Midlands hospital whilst also a co-director of The Faith Experiment, a programme exploring the interface of science and faith through the lens of healthcare science. The programme delivers sessions for local churches and community groups examining seven questions at the science and faith interface.
