Ever since the 1896 book (by Andrew Dixon White, the first President of Cornell University) titled “The History of the Warfare of Science with Theology,” many in academia and elsewhere have held the opinion that science and Christianity are ineradicably conflicting world views. This position is examined in the present lecture in terms of what Andrew Dickson White knew in 1896 and what we know today.
